Introduction
Will Braun ("Company," "We," "Us," or "Our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, storage, and sharing of information when you use the QuietCasa mobile application (the "Service").
QuietCasa is a cloud-connected platform that analyzes neighborhood noise levels, traffic patterns, crime statistics, and environmental factors to generate Tranquility Scores and other neighborhood assessments. The Service also includes a community Neighborhood Feed, property saving features, and a premium subscription tier (QuietCasa+). This policy outlines exactly how your data is collected, transmitted, stored on our external servers, and used.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories:
a. Information You Provide Directly
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you authenticate through a third-party provider (such as Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In), we receive your name and email address from that provider.
- Profile Information: Your chosen profile icon, display name, and any other profile details you provide.
- Home Address: If you set a "home base" address, we collect and store the address and its geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude).
- Saved Addresses and Listings: Addresses you search for and choose to save, as well as property listings you heart or bookmark.
- Neighborhood Feed Content: Posts, comments, upvotes, and any other content you create or interact with in the Neighborhood Feed, including text, images, audio, and video.
- Search Queries: Addresses, zip codes, and city names you enter when using the address search or QuietPockets (quiet zone search) features.
b. Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including features used, searches performed, pages viewed, timestamps of activity, and interaction patterns (e.g., number of posts, comments, and upvotes per week).
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and app version.
- Crash and Performance Data: Diagnostic data, crash logs, and performance metrics used to improve the stability of the Service.
c. Location Data
- Address-Based Location: When you search for an address or set a home base, the geographic coordinates of that address are derived and stored. The Service does not access your device's real-time GPS location.
- Proximity Calculations: Your home base coordinates may be used to calculate distances to Neighborhood Feed posts and to filter content by proximity.
d. Information from Third-Party Sources
- Environmental Data: We retrieve noise, traffic, crime, and other environmental data from third-party APIs and public data sources to generate Tranquility Scores and neighborhood assessments. This data is associated with searched addresses, not with you personally.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Providing the Service: To generate Tranquility Scores, display neighborhood data, operate the Neighborhood Feed, manage saved properties, and deliver the core functionality of the Application.
- Account Management: To create and manage your account, authenticate your identity, and maintain your profile and preferences.
- Subscription Management: To process QuietCasa+ subscriptions, verify premium status, and enforce free-tier usage limits (e.g., weekly search limits, saved property limits, and Neighborhood Feed interaction limits).
- Usage Limit Enforcement: To track and enforce weekly usage limits for free-tier users, including search counts, saved property counts, hearted listing counts, and Neighborhood Feed action counts.
- Content Moderation: To monitor, review, and enforce community standards within the Neighborhood Feed, including automated content filtering and response to user reports.
- Service Improvement: To analyze usage patterns, diagnose technical issues, and improve the performance, features, and user experience of the Service.
- Communications: To send you service-related notifications, such as account verification, security alerts, and updates to our Terms or Privacy Policy. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests.
3. Cloud Storage and Backend Infrastructure
The core functionality of the Service requires your data to be transmitted to and stored on external servers.
- Backend Infrastructure: We utilize Google Firebase and Google Cloud Firestore for user authentication, structured database management, and data storage. Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/SSL) and stored on servers managed by Google Cloud Platform.
- Data Retention: We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account through the Application's settings, we will delete your account data, including your profile, saved addresses, saved listings, and Neighborhood Feed posts, within a reasonable timeframe. However, anonymized or aggregated data derived from your usage may be retained indefinitely.
- Backup and Recovery: While we utilize commercially reasonable backup practices, we assume no liability for the accidental loss, corruption, or destruction of your data.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
a. Service Providers
We share data with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including:
- Google Firebase/Firestore: Authentication, database, and cloud storage services.
- Apple StoreKit: Subscription and in-app purchase processing (Apple processes payment information directly; we do not collect or store your payment card details).
- Third-Party Data APIs: We transmit searched addresses (not your personal information) to third-party APIs to retrieve noise, traffic, crime, and environmental data.
b. Neighborhood Feed (Public Content)
Content you post to the Neighborhood Feed — including your display name, profile icon, post text, images, audio, video, comments, and upvotes — is visible to other users of the Service within your geographic area. Treat Neighborhood Feed posts as public content.
c. Aggregated and Anonymized Data
We may share aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you for analytics, research, business development, or promotional purposes.
d. Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order, subpoena, or government agency request).
e. Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
f. Protection of Rights
We may disclose your information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding potential violations of our Terms and Conditions, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, or as evidence in litigation in which we are involved.
5. Subscription and Payment Data
QuietCasa+ subscriptions are processed entirely through the Apple App Store. We do not collect, process, or store your credit card number, billing address, or other financial payment information. Apple handles all payment processing in accordance with their own privacy policy and terms of service.
We receive and store only the following subscription-related information:
- Whether you have an active QuietCasa+ subscription (premium status);
- The type of subscription (monthly or annual);
- Transaction verification data from Apple's StoreKit framework.
6. Account Security and Data Breaches
Your account is protected by the credentials you create during registration or through third-party authentication providers.
- User Responsibility: You are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. We are not liable for unauthorized access resulting from your failure to secure your password.
- Server Security: We implement industry-standard security measures, including encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), secure authentication protocols, and access controls on our backend infrastructure. However, no cloud infrastructure is entirely impenetrable. We expressly disclaim any liability for data breaches, hacks, data corruption, or unauthorized third-party access to the external servers hosting your data, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
- Breach Notification: In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable state and federal breach notification laws.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
a. Access and Portability
You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
b. Correction
You may update or correct your account information at any time through the Application's profile settings.
c. Deletion
You may delete your account through the Application's settings. Upon account deletion, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, subject to our legal obligations and legitimate business interests (e.g., fraud prevention, legal compliance). Anonymized or aggregated data may be retained.
d. Opt-Out of Data Sales
We do not sell your personal information. If our practices change in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide a mechanism to opt out as required by applicable law.
e. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at the information provided below.

Our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (provided when creating an account) and our legitimate interest in operating the Service. To exercise these rights, contact us at the information provided below.
8. Analytics and Crash Reporting
We may utilize native or third-party analytics and crash reporting tools to understand how the Service performs and to identify technical issues. This data is used solely to improve the stability, performance, and user experience of the Application.
You can opt out of Apple's native crash reporting and analytics at the system level via your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Application itself does not use browser cookies. However, third-party services integrated into our backend infrastructure (such as Firebase) may use similar technologies for authentication, session management, and analytics purposes.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by Us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.
11. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so that we can take necessary actions to delete such information.
12. Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to — and maintained on — servers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data to the United States and process it there. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.
13. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Specifically:
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Neighborhood Feed Content: Retained until you delete the content or your account, or until removed by content moderation.
- Usage and Analytics Data: Retained in anonymized/aggregated form indefinitely for service improvement.
- Subscription Records: Retained as necessary for accounting, tax, and legal compliance purposes.
14. Do Not Track Signals
The Application does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals. There is no uniform standard for how DNT signals should be interpreted by mobile applications.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the Application and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice through an in-app notification or email to the address associated with your account. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
